Stainless steel fibers are manufactured using the bundle drawing process, in which stainless steel wires are bundled into a tube and drawn through a die to produce a fine fiber with a diameter ranging from 2 to 40 microns (up to 30 times thinner than human hair).
Stainless steel fibers exhibit all the common features of the metal, yet are flexible enough to be transformed into knitted, braided, woven, or nonwoven metal fiber and fabric products. They can also be spun and twisted with other fibers such as wool, nylon, cotton, and synthetic blends to produce a variety of textile materials.
